A player´s goals may be very different from a coach´s goals. A player may join just to make friends, or because their friends already play. Or, they may believe that this is a way to become popular. Other players goals may be to improve the team´s won/loss record, make it to the tournament, etc.
A coach should be aware that every player may have different goals than the coach.
